What to expect

  1. Anchoring Breathwork — a short intro video, then 3 minutes of guided breathing. Peak baseline HRV is captured.
  2. Forced-choice scenarios (EPT) — 48 items across leadership, moral gray areas, identity, fatherhood, failure, and decision-under-pressure. No neutral option.
  3. Trait self-report (TAI) — 60 quick statements on a 5-point scale. 15-minute cap.
  4. Divergent cognitive task (CLFT) — 10 prompts, 45 seconds each. How fast your cognitive resources deplete under load.
  5. Convergent reasoning (mRAT) — 76 items in 10 minutes, hard stop. Decision speed and persistence.
  6. Recovery breathing — 3 minutes. Nervous system recoverability — the ceiling of your coaching protocol.

Between stages: a brief pause screen that auto-advances after 60 seconds, or you can continue earlier. The timer does not pause once you're inside a stage.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Five-minute prep

  • Put your chest strap on 5–10 minutes before you start. HRV streams need a few minutes to settle before the baseline is measured.
  • Polar H10 (or comparable HR monitor with Bluetooth connect — Polar H9, Wahoo TICKR, Garmin HRM-Dual, CooSpo H6, Scosche Rhythm24, or any strap that streams RR intervals over BLE).
  • Laptop or desktop running Chrome or Edge. Safari and iOS/iPadOS browsers do not support Web Bluetooth and cannot run the session.
  • Quiet, distraction-free environment for the full 45 to 60 minutes. No phones. No interruptions.
  • A fresh session.Don't start the OSRP immediately after intense exercise — your baseline HRV needs time to settle.
